Next Generation
These quilts are made by Carolyn's granddaughter, Alison Gale. Carolyn taught her how to quilt as a child and gifted her one of her old sewing machines to continue quilting.
Bear Applique (2019)
This piece was made using a kit from Northern Threads. It was my first experience backing and binding a quilt.
Kauai Quilts (2020)
I picked up some beautiful batiks from a store called Kapaia Stitchery in Kauai. I experimented with several designs like making hearts and pinwheels. Machine quilted by Northern Threads.
National Parks (2021)
A panel quilt featuring pictuers from all the National Parks. This is backed in a plaid flannel. My first experience tying a quilt.
Moose Applique (2021)
This piece was my second one made using a kit from Northern Threads.
Double Diamond (2021)
This was the first quilt top I finished back in 2019 utilizing batik strip packs. I saved the quilt top so I could use it to learn long arm quilting. I was originally going to learn in 2020, but it got delayed until 2021 due to Coronavirus.
Penguin Party (2021)
I found this super cute penguin pattern from Elizabeth Hartman. I loved picking out the fabrics for the sweaters. This was the second quilt that I quilted myself on a long arm machine.
Nine Patch (2021)
Wanted to try a non-square nine patch pattern. Mostly used fabrics from Hawaii and mixed them with some black and white fabrics from my grandmother.
Xs and Os (2023)
Tried out the "Xs and Os" pattern with navy and orange fabrics to make this baby quilt for friends. This was my first time quilting using a stencil to mach the design.
Lavender Blocks & Teal Blocks (2023)
These were two baby quilts I made for friends and family using a strip-pieced block pattern. I machine quilted both of these quilts.
Abstract Sunrise (2023)
This wall hanging was a gift for my sister. This was made from the "Pure Bliss Sunrise" quilt kit from Art Gallery Fabric. It was fun learning about sewing curves and keeping track of all the different colors and blocks.
Entangled Triangles (2024)
This design is based off the "Entangled Sky" pattern. I used four different colors for a more abstract design that highlights the optical illusion created by the rotated triangles.
Peach Rail Fence (2024)
I made this quilt top with help from my sister. The "Rail Fence" pattern highlights the fun patterns in the blocks. This baby quilt was gifted to a cousin.
Animals of New Zealand and Australia (2024)
I wanted to remember a trip I took to New Zealand and Australia in 2023 and especially the birds I saw there. I found this set of panels and had fun arranging the blocks to create this colorful reminder of an amazing trip. This was my first time free-hand quilting using a pantograph.
